Hunter Scott: His high school history fair project revived interest in the fate of the USS Indianapolis (CA-35), sunk by a Japanese submarine after delivering the components of the first atomic bomb to the island of Tinian. This attention ultimately resulted in clearing her Captain, Charles Butler McVay III, of charges that he recklessly hazarded his ship. | |
