This Trevino family has been traced back to the middle of the nineteenth century starting with Nasario Trevino.  Nasario Trevino and his first wife Eulogia Hernandez are found with their children in the 1880 Census of the U.S. of Texas. Nasario is a laborer at the Las Palomas Rancho in Hidalgo County.  They were married on December 15, 1875 in a Catholic ceremony in Starr County.  Eulogia passes away sometime between 1885 and 1888.

Nasario remarries on April 21, 1888.  He marries Reyes Rodriguez in San Diego, Texas. He was 34 years old and she was 16 years old, a mere four years older than her oldest stepson.  They were married at a Catholic Church. At this point in time, there are questions about her true parents.  There is a story that she was born to an Irish immigrant who could not keep her, but instead gave her to the mid-wife, that mid-wife being Marcela Rodriguez.  The story as told to Wanda H. Gonzalez by a daughter of Jovita Trevino.  Reyes is found in the 1880 Census of the U.S. in Rio Grande City, Texas.  She is listed as the daughter of Candelerio Quintanilla and Marcela Rodriguez.  According to family history, Reyes was born in Santa Elena, Texas, just north of Rio Grande City, in 1872. The year does match her age in the 1880 Census.  Reyes is documented as being from the state of Texas, but her parents from Mexico.  Candelerio and Marcela's birthdates may not be accurate, as there are different dates in different Census records.  On Marcela's tombstone, her birthdate is listed as 1835.  She and several others in the family are buried in Falfurrias, Texas in a small family cemetery formerly in the Charco Redondo Rancho.  The cemetery is on private land and not easily accessible or visible.

It is interesting to note that in the 1880 Census, Reyes is listed just as the other children; Daniel, Francisco and Ignacia. But in the 1900 U.S. Census of Texas, she is now listed as Reyes R. Trevino, wife of Nasario Trevino.  In 1900, they are found in Hidalgo County, precinct 6.

They are renting a home and Nasario is a 'Teamster', a person who traveled to where the crops were ripe: a migrant worker.  Matias is a stockherder and Damasio is a shepard.  Nasario's mother, Gertrudis, is living with them among the children listed: Felix, Juliana, Emelio, Nasario, Marcela, Frederico, Matias, Damasio, San Juana, Lina and Clara.

In 1910, the older children are no longer living with them.  They are now in Starr County, Precinct 8 and Nasario is listed as being a farmer.  Those living with Nasario and Reyes are Felix, Julianna, Emelio, Nasario, Marcela, Frederico, Jova, Librado, Francisca, Reyes and Renolfo.  Reyes was born in the town of La Gloria in 1906, Aurora Eliza was born in San Pedro on the Alta Vista Ranch in 1914.  Both of the towns are not far from each other so it is evident that they were in this area for many years.  There are many land deeds dated between the years of 1887 through 1904 in which a Nasario Trevino was involved.  Perhaps one of these transactions is how the land in the San Pedro de Charco Redondo was obtained and where the family cemetery is located.

Nasario passed away on December 1, 1919 and was buried in the Charco Redondo Rancho Cemetery located in Falfurrias, Texas.  The rest of the family stayed together in Brooks County, precinct 4.  Felix assumes head of household and is living with his siblings - Julia, Emelio, Nasario, Marcela, Federico, Jovita, Librado, Francisca, Reyes, Renolfo, Cristela and Eliza.  Reyes R. Trevino is also living with them.  Reyes passes away a few years later on July 31, 1925 in Falfurrias, Texas.  The youngest children rely on the older siblings for support.  Aurora had mentioned that it was Frederico who had helped her, but for others it was Felix.
