I copied your address from the Surname page of the VA USGenWeb site with the hope that some of you might provide a clue for my search.
I am a descendant of Jesse Giles who married Dicie Jones (daughter of John and Jenny Hightower Jones) in Campbell county VA on June 6, l817. Jesse and Dicie later lived in Halifax county and in 1832 moved west to Christian county, KY where they prospered and died in 1873 and 1874, respectively. All of their children made the move to KY. The daughters seem to be named for Dicie's sisters. The three sons were named John, Jesse, jr (my ancestor), and Pascal. I am searching for the parents of Jesse, sr. It is believed that he may have had a brother named Littleberry. One of his grandsons was named Abbott, reputedly for a relative in Virginia. Jesse (sr.) is first found in records in personal property lists in Campbell county in 1813. He said that he was born in 1790 and that he was in the War of 1812, though we have found no records to substantiate this claim. His family bible was lost in a house fire.
Any clues about this part of the Giles clan would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Joe Giles,
Nashville, TN
