Hello Stan.
I found your website through the GenWeb. I was very interested in some of your postings for Giles; but did not clearly answer our million dollar question. It appears that a whole host of us Giles are still trying to find the parents of Henry Edward Giles of Mecklenburg County, VA. I have had fun getting acquainted with a myriad of Giles relatives that I would have otherwise never gotten to meet (through these genealogy forums). I guess in an odd way, the internet is bringing us back in touch with one another.
I'm very interested in my Giles lineage, and also interested in the Giles who fought in the civil war. If you or anyone else has information for me, I would greatly appreciate it. It appears everything you get is on your website. I'll share any information I have with anyone too, in addition to or regarding the below.
My lineage is this, starting with the oldest known Giles I'm related to:
Henry Edward Giles of VA; b 1745 or 1750 married Jean Cleaton-Clayton had five children.
William C. Giles of VA b 1785 married Lucy Stegall-Standley had 18 children
William C. Giles Jr. b 1805 in VA? moved to TN married Mary Young had five children
Clayburn Young Giles b 1840 in TN married Sarah Hodge had eight children. (CY and his two brothers, along with a host of other Giles, fought for Tennessee in the Civil War)
Embrit Newsom Giles b 1875 in TN married Minnie Orlena Barnes had fifteen children (seven died as infants).
Leonard Vaden Giles b 1900 in Troy, TN married Iva Lee Jolliff in AR had thirteen children (four died as infants).
Max Larry Giles b 1943 in Manila, AR married Maggie Lukowski had two children.
Daniel Max Giles b 1965 in Gwinn, MI married Teresa Lee Roberts in MI
We have four children, Brianna (3/91) Kellie (7/93) Nathan (9/95) and Seth Clayburn (1/99)
Thanks,
Dan
