Came to Carroll County at age 18 from Chester Co, SC Was a Justice of the Peace.
Notice that big jump in income/property in 10 years time. Jesse was pro-Union during the Civil War. 
 
The following is from the minutes of Tennessee's 34th General Assembly 1866-1867. "Whereas, Jesse Giles, Tax collector for the County of Carroll for 1861, collected said tax in Tennessee money and refused to pay the same to the Rebel authorities, and whereas, said Giles did come to the City of Nashville in the latter part of 1865 (or 1st of 1866) for the purpose of settling his account with the comptroller; and whereas, the Comptroller declined to settle said account until he could examine the case; and whereas, said Giles deposited with the Comptroller the aforesaid funds and the Comptroller being absent from indisposition; therefore be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee that the Comptroller issue his warrant to the treasurer to receive from the said Jesse Giles the funds deposited with the Comptroller as aforesaid, and receipt him for the same. William Heiskell Speaker of House of Representatives and Joshua B Frierson Speaker of the Senate. Adopted Dec 10, 1866.
 
Chloe's maiden name was Bogle.
Chloe filled a Southern Loyalist Claim after the war.
Mary M married William Humphrey in 1851.
Harvey died of consumption in 1860.
 
* Marques C died in Andersonville Prison 11/7/1864 of scrobutus. He was in
Co I, 7th Tenn. Cavalry USA.
 
** Enoch Jefferson was in Co F 7th Tenn. Cavalry USA. He died of pneumonia in the hospital at Benton Barracks, Missouri in March of 1863.
Cyrus Green was in Co F 52nd Indiana USA. He filled out a Tenn. Civil War
Questionnaire in the early 1900s. He lived around McLemoresville after the
war.

It occurred to me that you might like to have the military muster roll  records for the Giles in the 7th Tenn.
Enoch J Giles, Co F, 7th Tenn. Cavalry USA, Private, enlisted for one year in Carroll Co on 9/20/62. He was 21 at the time. He died in Benton Barracks at St Louis Missouri on 3/7/63 of pneumonia. He is buried in Carter's Chapel Cemetery with a military marker.
John A Giles, Co G 7th Tenn. Cavalry USA, Private, enlisted for one year in Carroll Co on 8/5/62 at age 20. He was 5'7" tall, light complexion, blue eyes, red hair, a farmer. He was sick in hospital at Camp Chase, Ohio April-Aug 1863 but returned to regiment and was mustered out at Saulsbury, Tenn. on 10/25/63.
Marques G Giles, Co I, corporal, 7th Tenn. Cavalry USA, enlisted for 3 years at
Buena Vista, Tenn. on 9/20/62, mustered in at Union City on 12/15/63. He
was captured at Union City, Tenn. on March 24, 1864 and sent to
Andersonville Prison where he died on 11/7/64.
