Mercury Transit 2006




November 08 , 2006 Mercury , the closest planet to our Sun crossed the face of our Sun starting at 13:12pm (1:12pm) CST until just after 19:00pm (7:00pm) CST in the USA . This was a very exciting event for amateur astronomers across the world . The Mercury transit only happens 13 times within a century . All images below were taken with a Canon Rebel 300D at Prime Focus of a Celestron C8 on a CG5 GEQ Mount with dual axes motors using a Celestron 2" diagonal with a 2" camera adapter and a T-Ring . Settings were Portrait mode which give the best detailed and sharpest images . Editing was done in PS7 using Custom Sharpening , Auto-Coloring , Variations , Levels and Resizing for the color images and the White images were edited with Auto-Coloring , Custom Sharpening and Resized . The large sunspot seen in each image is SunSpot # 923 .
