Grease the Cuda slope with Nashville Pussys collective juices and you end up in a big Oole pond labeled Hognose, a southern tinged power riff rock unit youd dig. Straight up tub wacking, a full slab of bass w/enough sauce on the side to slide under and around the six string action and a little hollarin now and again to remind you someone In the band has lungs. You know those "by guitarists for guitarists" discs Schrapnel puts out? Like the shredder Ying Yang Malmstein influenced things? Well this is "our" version of those. The wife called it as a companion piece t o the Artymus Pyle demo. But what do girls knowS? Well apparently a bunch. Someone here has read the "lead guitar which makes people buy beers for the guitarist" manual. Like all good lead work when a chunk gets torn off and handed down its never too much. Oh yeah, its three cuts and 16.66 minutes short. You know those "sister cities" programs where you trade geeky 11th graders to learn each others cultures and write a really long report about it? Well these guys and Superstition could be "fella bands", different but related ya know?

Hognose show some cool moves here on this 3 song ep chock full of dirty Texas badass rock and roll. Not only do these 3 tracks rock like Nashville Pussy or Dixie Witch, they add some neat grunge elements to the mix making them a little less predictable than a lot of the "southern" style rock you hear lately. "Black Angus" rocks out in true garage fashion, a little muddy on the production end but all of that is forgotten once the strangled beer swillin' vocals kick in. Kind of cool the way this song slows into some bottom heavy TAD/Helmet type grooves. "L.T.D." is a much more frantic track – pretty much over before you know it, with the vocals taking on a more echoey background presence; also found on the 7+ minute multi-part "Fountainhead" with its slow, boozy guitar intro acting as the perfect harbinger to Hognose' monstrous mid-tempo FU-like grooves. Don't mess with Hognose, these guys sound like they could kick some serious ass live. Looking foreward to a full-length from these fellas.

A Demo do Hognose traz 3 músicas.

Redneck motherfucking moonshine swilling sludgy blues metal rock and roll from Texas. Their name is perfect, cuz that's how they sound, like they're rutting around face-first in the mud, looking for a mouthful of somethin' good. Think ZZ Top reaping the whirlwind on judgement day, flames licking the fur off of their spinning guitars, as a wall of molten sickness rises up like an hungry beast, sucking everything into it's noisy maw. Yeah, something just like that. Overanalyzing things from Texas is pointless, so let me just say that there's a guy named Skeeter in the band, my favorite song on the demo is called "Get Your Hand Off My Neck", and their drummer may or may not wear a chicken suit on stage. Bad asses, in other words.

Hard medium rock and roll numbers with sludge blues solos and tons of energy, the songs are simple and Hognose has your attention from the first note that they play on through the 3rd song on this heavy, heavy demo. Nothing new so to speak- but a great high energy metal/blues mix of highway rock numbers very similar to the kind of energy and approach Bad Wizard gets across. Thick overdriven guitar tones and melodic growly vocals that are right up front. The last cut is a sorta departure to the first 2 on this short but in your face epic demo, but make no mistakes- it`s Hognose all the way, just slower and moodier... It`s almost garage sounding like early raw rock groups- MC5/Stooges, but more of the harder edged stoner variety. Definitely check out this killer band if you care for the likes of Bad Wizard crossed with the solos of Dirty Dave from The Glasspack. Have a beer, a couple of bongs and let her rip!
