Wilson Lee SMITH
Wilson Lee Smith, (Service # ), a Civil War Veteran, enlisted in the Union Army on 2 Feb 1964 Corunna, MI and was Honorably discharged on 30 Aug 1865 in Detroit, MI. He was a Private in Company D, 9th Regiment, Michigan Infantry.
In the summer of 1864 he fought in the battle at Chattanooga, TN and contracted chronic diarrhea. "He was sent home on sick furlough and at the end of furlough he reported to Detroit and was put into St. Marys Hospital, Detroit, where he was treated for chronic diarrhea several weeks. Since, he has treated himself and was sent to the same hospital twice and the last time was discharged therefrom."(from his Declaration for Original Pension)
