Burleson "Burl" McCowen, age 89 years, 3months, 5 days, of Cross Plains, passed away Thursday, December 30, 1999 at the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Graveside services for Burleson "Burl" McCowen were held Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in the Burkett Cemetery. Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McCowen died Thursday DEC. 30 1999.
He was born September 25, 1910 in Gustine to William Edmon and Hattie Frances (Vincent) McCowen.
He was married to Sarah Mae Hounshell on August 26, 1936, in Burkett. She died in 1998.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, World War 11.
He was a carpenter and lived most of his life in this Area. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include a brother Raymond A. McCowen, of Cross Plains, a sister Lillian Etta Webb
of Houston. and numerous niece and nephews.

Sarah Mae McCowen is survived by her husband, burl McCowen of Cross Plains, Texas. brothers, Raymond Hounshell of Cisco,Texas; Elmer Hounshell of Lake Brownwood. Sister, Evelyn Pitts of Highrolls Mountain Park, NM. Numerous neices and nephews.
