![]() On the Photograph: Dec. 1920 Leaving Fort Stockton for Davis Mountains. 90 mile drive. Ray Pollard in car. Joe Yoho standing along side. Probably finished a well and had a few days off to play. This is in December. Bet it is cool in that open topped car. |
Where are the women? Looks like business was good. $15.00 for an
airplane ride was pretty stiff is those days but look at them lined up
to go. Business was good that day for the barnstormer pilot.![]() 1920 Trip from Breckenridge oil town to Davis Mountains. Background could be near Fort Stockton, Texas. Not much vegetation; but lots of rocks. The roads weren't paved in those days. Hard on passengers and cars too. |
![]() Left to right: Joe Yoho, May Yoho, Opal Pollard. Ray Pollard is the Photographer. Looks like lunch time to me. they are wearing heavy coats but notice the top is not up and no side curtains on that car. Stopped along the highway to have a picnic. I'm not in the family yet. I appear in December in the next year. |
![]() 1920 Residence at Breckenridge, Texas The Oil Boom was on and hard to find a place to live for everyone. The Pollards lived here for some time. I remember stories about the rattle snakes under the house and finding them around the porch at times at the front door. Do you wonder why they didn't worry about a top on an automobile. Look at the living quarters. |
