1919 photo reads: Well shot, Veab N.4- Two hundred bbls- Breckenridge, Texas

We are in the Breckenridge oil field now. I wonder where the timber came from they used to build all those derricks.  You notice this is not timber country. Some times the most worthless land harbors a treasure trove of oil beneath it.  You just have to know how to find it and bring it to the surface. And that gets more expensive every year.

November 11th, 1919, OIL FIELD, BRECKENRIDGE TEXAS.
This was taken from topside of one of the wooden derricks.

Chann Rubel is now in Breckenridge.  He has a For Sale sign written on the left side of the car. I don't see a door handle to open and get into the driver's seat. Were the handles  inside or did you have to enter on the right side of the car. I owned a Model B Ford back in the 1930's but it was a four door hard top with curtains on the rear windows. There were many changes from a Model T to the Ford Model B.

One thing about cars, they all have to fill up with fuel to keep running.

Dad took this photograph on a trip to Fort Worth in 1919. Brought the camera and film home and had it developed in Breckenridge. The work was so bad, he bad mouthed the photo finisher more than he documented the scene. So I can't share the date or occasion.

Dad bought a folding type Kodak Camera that used 122 film size. That is the same format as a postal card. So this image of Fort Worth is well represented.
