Oil Field 1919, Burkburnett Texas. Height of the Oil Boom in that area. Some of the workers pitched  tents and lived near the drilling rigs. Dad's residence is coming up in another scene. His photo shows a wooden structure among the Drilling rigs.

I always admired the rig builder in the oil field, They always went to work before dawn to take advantage of the daylight. Climbing around on those rigs, that took some nerve to do that day after day.

When I was young I remember Dad working 12 hours a day 7 days a week till the well was complete. Time is of the essence, and a rig needs to be drilled in as fast as possible.

Photo to the right: Lady in the automobile is May Yoho another family friend for many years. This is 1919 and my mother is on the left, next couple is unknown. Notice the crank on the car in the front. That is a real convertible. I'm guessing it is a Model T Ford. Is that right?

What do we do for recreation?  Why hunt jackrabbits of course.  They were every where. Here are some hanging from the clothes line in the back yard.

Many people used them for meat; others it was just a sport. People would move in and chase off the coyotes. Then there would be rabbits every where. If you planted a garden; the rabbits would enjoy it immensely. So what did they do? Thin out the rabbits.

The bird dog was a pet of the Yoho family in the image below.
