Work

I am employed as a web developer with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Most of my work involves developing and maintaining Cold Fusion applications. I started working at the Coordinating Board in 1996 reviewing reports from grantees in the Eisenhower Grants Program (supporting professional development for math and science teachers). At some point, somebody said, "We ought to have a website," and I said, "I know HTML," and they said, "Huh?" and things kind of developed from there.

My actual professional training is in modern European history, specifically postwar Germany. After some years on the job market, I gave up looking for a teaching position. I did succeed in getting my dissertation published as a book, which got decent reviews but is unlikely to make me any money.
