Chuck began playing bar gigs back in the late '80s, along with Tater & Kurt Thompson in their first bar band, "Fatal Influence". He went on to gig with Kelly Gafford & Tater in "Tangent", which became the house band at Chain Reaction in Odessa. Later, he was recruited to play in "Mr. Bones" with Marty Johnson, James Koehler & Fred Ingham, replacing the original drummer, Rodney Burns. After Mr. Bones split up, Marty, Fred & Chuck went on to play under various names, "Buffalo Dogs", "Regulators" (featuring "Brother" Christian Scott on lead vocals), "Rotten Scott" (a Bon Scott/AD-DC tribute band, featuring Rodney Burns on lead vocals) & "2 Fat Guys & A Couple Of Jerks", adding Mike Moore to the team. After a short run as "2FG&CJ", they changed the name to "Stinky Johnson". Stinky Johnson rocked West Texas for a decade & a half & was one the top rock bands in the area throughout it's existence. Even though SJ had many guitarists over the years, Chuck was the only founding member that remained with the band throughout Stinky Johnson's long lifespan. |
Chuck has shared the stage with Seven Mary Three, Van Zandt, The Hollywood Allstarz (including members Carlos Cavazo, Jimmy Bain, Vinny Appice, Chas West & Krigger) & Storyville (including members Malford Milligan, David Grissom, David Holt, Tommy Shannon & Chris Layton). | ![]() |
