".....I have been told more than anything else to sell the
damn CA(CityAdvantage).
We are also required to sell at least $150 worth of solutions
along with the computer. Its really sucks bad."
loserkidrory states
"City advantage is worthless. the company tries their
hardest to say that you neglected the product, you never get
anything."
blitzball2k3 states
"I've been able to sell CA by sadly lying to people by
saying such phrases like"If anything ever happens to
(insert product name here), you'll be reimbursed!".
I know it's a lie, but I don't really care. The ends
justify the means..."
That story sounds
familiar to me for some reason..........Hmmmmmm............anyone
else?
philycheezblunt states
".....The majority of people who buy City Advantage are
upper middle class and rich white people. The same ones who
mostly vote Republican. The same ones who put Bush, and
Schwarzenegger in power. It just so happens that because of these
two dumbshits, my college tuition has gone up 500 bucks more a
quarter. Which is why I now have to work at Circuit City, and get
underpaid, to get through school. In order to keep my job, and
get moved to a better paying department, I have to get the same
people who are ultimately responsible for my college tuition
going up and me having to work here to buy shit that they don't
need.
".....Basically, this is how I feel: If your lavish
lifestyle makes it advantageous for you to vote for politicians
who are going to piss on the people who are lower class than you,
and in turn make you even richer, then I have no problem
picking your pockets in order to get my cut of what your
actions have cost me."
seniorent states
".....we make hardly a thing on some computers and
others we actually lose money on, the acc. and CA(CityAdvantage)
make the company money"
convem21 states
".....I know everybody says that CA(CityAdvantage) is
superior in quality and therefore the price is more but I have
compared at the store level what the difference is and Best Buy
blows CC away.....................I quit because even if I beat
my CA(CityAdvantage) goals it was never enough and I was never
appreciated."
Fried_Circuit states
".....At my store associates are forced to "gang
up" on customers, 3 associates explaining and pushing the
CityAdvantage to one customer.....If I put myself in that
customers shoes I would feel intimidated by that swarm of red
shirts., and personally I think this is a really low tactic. What
ever happend to simply assisting the customer and making them
happy?..........I do not take part in ganging up on customers, lying
to them or even bothering to mention the Service Plan after
they say they're not interested............CA is being pushed
much harder in my store than it was around 5 months ago and I
fear its only going to get worse....."
sofaonasock states
"yea, I walked into CC on Saturday...empty parking lot, one
on one coverage in each dept, 2 customers in the whole store
drove 5 minutes to BBY, took 5 minutes just to find a spot, blue
shirts everywhere, and customers everywhere too"
I guess others are
catching on!
doublexup states
".....I am basically selling that CA crap every time I am
working (approx. selling $100 and more in CA sales on a daily
basis)..........one day, he(co-worker) had the nerve to question
me and go I know you are lying to customers about the warranties
and how he pointed out how an esa dvd player offers a
manufactures warranty of 12labor/12parts. I was like I
swear it was 3labor/12parts....." Gee, I wonder if these
guys work at the store that I bought from!
TheSolution states
".....Now CA is the driving force of the company. It's
gotten so out of hand that I see product specialists cherry
picking customers, especially in class 121-126 tvs. If there is
doubt that they are not getting CA, walk away because after you
sell that $3000 tv with no cheese, you'll be on the "Just
What I Needed" Sh!t list for days to come."
swerveCC states
"I had a problem at first selling CA but now it's not a big
problem... the past 3 days I've gotten in about 5 out of 6 times.
You just have to be confident with it. If not the customer can
tell you're trying to bs them to buy it."
mrconsumer(a visiting customer) added
".....you feel bad about selling CA to customers. Good for
you guys, you are thinking clearly. I will never trade with CC
again -- ever. I can purchase anything that your store sells for
much less online and avoid taxes as well. I will tell the world
about how CC ripped me off..........If CC dishonors thier own
written warraty and treats their good customers like a diaper,
they are doomed to fail." mrconsumer, are you my long lost twin?
frogie responded
"mrconsumer, i admire your post, and have to agree with you.
Extended warranties I think are crap. Some people's opinions
might be different. These stores once in awhile will rip you off
as in the unfortunate case with mrconsumer..........look at it
this way, if you were a "smart consumer" and you paid
for CA on everything you got, you would lose money in long run,
and probably a lot of it. I believe the CA runs 100 bucks for a
400 dollar product? thats 25% of the actual cost which is
outrageous..........The CA and any other extended
warranty service is a service for the dumb consumer
or the brainwashed employee. Soon, (less than a decade) CC and BB
and the other retailer buildings will need to compete with places
like newegg, fry's electronics, and other online sites. With no
action, they will lose the dumb customers they stay alive off
of." Yeah, CC
caught me at a not-so-smart moment, but I've learned their game!
so_long_CC states
"I don't know about the TV bulbs, but you can get a
generic laptop battery for much less than the cost of the CA. And
yes thats the same generic battery that CC will replace your
brand name battery with when you call for service.Okay first of
all, CA under NO CIRCUMSTANCE will "swap out" a 14
month old laptop for a brand new model in the store. I don't know
where you dreamed that one up. Secondly if a laptop screen went
out in three months the manufacturer would repair it for free
under most circumstances. If they indeed asked the
customer for $900 to repair it then obviously the customer
damaged it themselves, and CA would tell them the
same thing. Read your City Advantage Terms and
Conditions booklet thoroughly, laptops, PDAs, and digital cameras
don't get magically "swapped out"."
Once again: why do
we need 2 warranties?
jhokie states
"The fact of the matter is, ALL that Circuit City cares
about now is Cityadvantage, and that's a joke. This crap is
going to be CCs eventual downfall. Circuit City's management
and corporate culture places cityadvantage sales on a higher
rung of importance than providing great customer service, and
that's just plain horrible." Preaching to the choir!
pakrambo states
"City Advantage...One way ticket to hell. for us
associates..because we have to lie to sell it."
I think
I've heard enough. How about you?
