I had spotted
this car behind Smith Furniture in Odessa and had planned on
buying it just for the front end. I acquired my buddy's 1970
Mach1 and needed a front end for it. I bought it for $500 and
drove it home. It had some loose linkage, so I had to drive all
the way home in 1st gear. After I brought the Mach home, I pulled
the front end off the coupe and put it on the Mach.
After
looking the coupe over well and seeing that it had NO RUST and NO
STRUCTURAL DAMAGE and a CLEAR TITLE, I decided that I wouldn't be
a part of junking a classic Mustang that had survived surprising
well almost as long as I had, even if it was an ugly coupe. I
found another front end for the Mach and put the fenders back on
the coupe. I had already traded the plain hood from the coupe for
a turn signal scooped hood with hood locks for the Mach1. I
originally considered chopping the top off and making it a
convertible because I can't stand the coupes in '69 & '70,
but changed my mind after finding the custom trunk lid and end
caps.
This picture
convinced me that I could make this coupe look far better than a coupe is supposed to look:
I
will save this car from certain death and end up with a pretty
cool little coupe.
One that I won't be ashamed to be seen in!

She's still in
the same condition as when I bought her, with the exception of
the hood swap. I have gathered most of the parts for the custom
conversion and will begin swapping the parts soon.
