World Team Cup 2013

Sunday, July 21 through Thursday, July 25, 2013

In addition to the golfing opportunities to ABG Players here in the United States,  the Scottish Disability Golf Partnership has graciously extended a golfing invitation to all American Blind Golf Players.  What an outstanding opportunity to visit Scotland, THE HOME OF GOLF!

The Scottish Disability Golf Partnership is proud to announce their second hosting of the World Team Cup and disabled golfers from around the world are invited to get together and enter teams of four players, to compete for the World Cup Trophy.  Individual disabled golfers may also enter and they will be pooled with other individuals to make up international teams.

Recently added to the golfing package is an additional First Swing Clinic and practice day on Sunday 21 July at the nearby Palacerigg Family Golf Centre, where practice sessions, golf, catering and PGA supervised golf lessons are arranged.  A practice round is also provided at Palacerigg as part of the existing package or 18 holes of golf may be played at Westerwood for only 10 (Pound Sterling).

The competition will be played over 4 days, 72 holes (18 holes per day). Each team of 4 golfers will have their daily scores combined to calculate an overall team score.  The winning team after the 4 rounds will be calculated using the Stableford system.  Teams submitting 4 fully completed 72 hole cards will also play for a Gross Prize.

Each team will be split into two pairs for each days play.  Each team must have at least two differing disabilities to qualify.  As this event will be calculated on stableford (points) scores, all players must provide evidence of their club or (lowest) nationally recognized golf handicap to the SDGP. If no such evidence can be supplied, a minimum handicap will be imposed.

The World Team Cup package offered by the SDGP will cover each player for: The First Swing Clinic, four rounds of golf at Westerwood and four night's dinner, bed and breakfast at the Westerwood Hotel (Mon 22, Tue 23, Wed 24 & Thu 25 July).  The package indicated will also cater for essential coaches/guides only, i.e. guides for the blind and carers for those with severe learning disabilities.  Essential coaches do not play at this event. The SDGP is providing golf carts and some pick-ups from Glasgow Airport, on Sunday 21 and Friday 26 July only.

This comprehensive golfing package costs only 250 (Pound Sterling) per person.

There is also a package on offer for husbands, wives and friends, to stay at the Westerwood Resort during the World Cup.  Costs are 50 (Pound Sterling) per person per night for dinner, bed and breakfast and this can be booked, after your entry is confirmed, by contacting Fiona White at the Resort on 01236 457 171.

We do expect this event to be over-subscribed, so a reserve list of teams and players will be created by the SDGP.
