Bob Mitchell

Incompetent at golf and bored by card games, Bob’s retirement from Exxon Chemical in 1997 after an internationally nomadic career forced him to find something to do. Joining a program in UTOLLI’s predecessor provided the opportunity to present seminars in the form of ‘Class Reports’ on the exploration of topics of personal interest. Given his interest in historical subjects, access to relevant pictorial material on the internet helped with the selection of topics. As a result, 'Photographers of the US Civil War', 'British Castles', 'Monarchs of the Movies', 'Reel Romans', ‘English Medieval Cathedrals’ and now ‘The English Language & History’ have been (or are being) presented to UT QUEST, UT FORUM, UT SAGE, and UT NOVA. Bob is a Chemistry & Physics graduate of King’s College London and lived in London, Brussels, Morristown NJ and Houston TX before reaching Austin in 1993.
