Heart of Texas Chapter - History
The Texas German Society was organized in Houston in 1983 to preserve and promote German heritage, culture, and language.
The Society is governed by a slate of state officers and directors and is currently made up of twenty local chapters.
Each chapter has its own officers and operates somewhat autonomously from the state organization. State officers, state directors, and chapter presidents meet quarterly to take care of the organization’s business.
One of the newer chapters in the Society is the Heart of Texas Chapter , organized in Waco on August 26, 1997. This group began with 24 charter members and has grown to a present membership of 101 in 2002.
