Joe McCourry

 

        My name is Joe McCourry. I am the current representative on the City Council for Place 3. 

 

I have been in The Colony since 1988.  I built my first house here in 1990 and built my current house in 1999. I live in the Legends with my wife Tamara and 3 children that attend Griffin Middle School. My oldest son is a computer programmer and hardware tech living and working in Oklahoma City.

 

I work for Fidelity National Financial in the Information Services division.  I am a Distributed Computing Analyst.  I do Quality Assurance testing on banking software developed by FNFIS.  I am currently assigned as a Team Lead, to the implementation of this software at a major US bank. I grew up and went to school in Oklahoma City, Ok.  I attended Central State University, now named University of Central Oklahoma, in Edmond, Ok.  I graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.   While attending the university, I was twice elected the Student Body President. I was given an Award of Merit as the Outstanding Political Science Man Award.  I was selected as an Outstanding Young Man of America for the year 1984.  I am listed in the Directory of Distinguished Americans, Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and represented CSU as the Harry S. Truman Scholarship nominee.

 

I served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1975 to 1980.  I received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sergeant (E-5).  I was trained as a Disbursing Clerk and was responsible for the paying of 1st Battalion/ 5th Marines/ 1st MarDiv.  Later I served as the ANCOIC of a Marine Detachment in Accra, Ghana, W. Africa and Bonn, W. Germany. 

 

I was elected to the City Council in 2002.  I was elected as Mayor Pro-Tem by my council peers in 2003. I am proud of the work that I have done during this first three-year term of office.  I ask you for your support and Vote on May 7th to return as your representative for City Council Place 3.
